I've received my 7D Mark II yesterday and being previous owner of 7D and after reading so many reviews, I was extatic last 36 hours :-) ... Mark II is far better with many additions and improvements over 7D.
I will NOT write technical stuff here, as there are many reviews, technical stuff to read around, join Facebook Canon 7D Mark II group, etc ... but just try to convince people here to use Cotswold Cameras, as I've read a few people that were questioning 'low prices'?! I can reassure you that only YOU can save some momey with them, as they try to please you with those prices, but behing those prices there is a huge knowledge in photography that many retailers haven't got, but charge much more for the very same products.
I've used to buy stuff in Hong Kong and Singapore during my 10 sailing years around the World, and I've NEVER EVER had any problems with technology I bought there (cameras, lenses, music keyboards, guitars, microphones, tape recorders, TVs, radios, walkmans, Hi-fi units, etc).
I will definitelly shop in a future with Cotswold Cameras, who have excellent customer services and will help you with ANY question regarding photography, if you need it. They keep you update all the way about your order which is very reassuring. Just with this order of 7D Mark II and Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 lens, I've saved enough to buy another lens :-)
Keep doing good work Cotswold Cameras :-)
Took delivery of my 7d Mk ii yesterday lunchtime (Monday) having ordered it the previous Thursday at 5.00pm. Absolutely delighted with the service you have provided, and the camera? – well it’s a beast no other way of putting it! Solid build (heavier than my previous 600d), and full of things to play with. If you’ve had a Canon before it’s easy to get this one into use and the results are cracking. Just need a back-up battery now!
Many thanks to Cotswold Cameras, I was a bit dubious but the service is excellent and hopefully the product will prove to be also. Cheers!
I'd just like to reiterate what many reviewers before me have said.
I deliberated on buying from Cotswold Cameras because (as far as I'm aware) they don't have a physical UK shop and are internet based only. I was worried about my purchase being delayed or going missing in transit, the possibilty of paying import duty and what would happen if the goods were faulty or damaged on arrival. All perfectly reasonable concerns, however I needn't have worried.
My shipment arrived in good time and in perfect condition. Communication was excellent throughout. Having spoken on the phone and emailed C.C. with some general queries I feel secure in the knowledge that, should a fault arise within the warranty period, Cotswold Cameras will take care of it (and within the UK) just as well as any highstreet retailer would.
If you don't require a VAT receipt then I can't see why you wouldn't purchase through these guys and save yourself a significant amount of money. I think they provide a fantastic service.
Before the review, fascinating to follow the cameras travels from Hong Kong, Japan, France then exotic Stanstead to Stoke and then Chorley.
Parcel arrived in good external condition.
Cracked the packaging and the camera worked as expected.
My old camera is a 50D - some 6 years old and wonderful, so I thought, for action and people.
The 7Dk2 is all the reviews say it is.
At ISO 6400 no real sign of colour noise thought luminance noise is there - tweak in Adobe RAW editor. The point is compared to the 50D even at these high ISOs, the actual quality/lack of softening of the edges, is amazing. On the 50D at ISO 3200, the camera back review would be a chicken pox of coloured spots - not with this body.
Noise defaults settings are being used straight out of the box.
Plenty of menus to tweak especially the AF menus for Servo focusing.
Lots of focus points and combinations of to play with.
Built in B setting times up to hours and built in sequence shooting - so no external device needed.
Coupled with L series lenses, some of my crops - and I like to crop hard on sports shots, look spectacular even at A3 prints - I think spectacular.
Many of the menus are straight from the 5Dmk3 like the AF menus for moving objects.
Very impressed especially for the price and the 3 years parts & labour guarantee.
Yes, they use their own repair specialists but then so do my very good local photo shop, WIlkinsons up here in the North West.
At the time of posting this, the price has dropped £20. Bargain.
